The Broken Arrow and the Two Tribes of the Cou
The people of the Cou Tribe that were fortunate to survive the great flood split into two groups, the Cou and the Maya, each who would look for the place they wanted to settle.Both groups each kept half of a broken arrow so that one day when they met they would be able to recognize their long lost fellows of the original Cou Tribe. The Japanese were thought to be the lost tribe of the Maya, but they have never come up with the other half of the arrow!
「復仇的山豬」故事：幻化成英俊男子的山豬首領，竟被情人的哥哥一箭射死，引來山豬群排山倒海的瘋狂滅村報復。外出而逃過一劫的鄒族獵人，經過多日跟蹤布署，以燒山方式焚殺了無數山豬，以慰族人亡靈。
Revenge of the Mountain Boar
Why are there so few mountain boar left? This is the story of how a leader of the mountain boar who could turn himself into a handsome young man fell in love with a beautiful woman of the Cou Tribe. This ended in tragedy when the boar’s life was taken by the woman’s brother. Having lost their leader, the mountain boar went crazy with anger and killed all the people in the Cou settlement. But then some of the surviving Cou took their revenge, killing almost all of the mountain boar, They killed so many that this is the reason that there are now so few mountain boar.
「被遺忘的祭典」故事：「荷美雅雅」、「休史吉」祭典象徵著鄒族大、小社之間文化命脈的連結，讓感恩、不忘本的心意長存，也凝聚了族人情誼。
The Forgotten Rites
The ceremonies of the “homeyaya” and the “siuski” are the important festivals for the Cou. The “homeyaya” is when the people of the “small settlements” visit the people of the “large settlements” and “siuski” is just the reverse. These festivals bring the people of the Cou together and serve as one way of maintaining their traditions and appreciation.
